How it all started...
In January 2020, Mercer Creek Church in Ellensburg, WA was presented with an idea: "How about we start a new church in Upper County?" The generous people of Mercer supported the vision and funded all the resources needed to start a new church.
We chose the former middle school in Roslyn as our base. After some cleaning and modernization efforts, it looked perfect for our community. We went and had a first prayer meeting there just to pray over the future of the Church. After we finished our first prayer meeting in Roslyn we said, "Hey guys, this is exciting, what we're doing...but, it looks like the state is shutting down tomorrow."

Expanding the vision...
However, a few months into the pandemic, we felt ready. With a modest group of enthusiastic believers, we began our journey, focusing on the community we had rather than what we had planned. Over the next couple years, this modest group grew into a healthy core.
As time passed, a strong desire grew for us to become an independent church entity in Upper County. This aspiration became more pronounced because of some internal challenges, but the focus was clear: we wanted our own identity.
Over the summer of 2023, we took care of the administrative aspects, gearing up for our official September launch as Swiftwater Church. The name "Swiftwater" resonates deeply in Upper County. It’s the English name for Cle Elum and is tied to local landmarks like the Swiftwater Watershed. We wanted a name that was locally rooted as our mission is to serve our local community.

So, here we are...
Our desire is that: We worship God with all our lives. We meet in smaller groups so that we can have true biblical community with one another. We reach out to our culture and the world with the love of Christ.
This is an exciting time, we're growing more and more each week, our attendance has tripled, and every week we're welcoming new faces and witnessing our community grow stronger in their faith. It's so encouraging to watch all the kids participate in the life of our church.
